A Focus on Diversity:
Changing the Face of American Birding
October 22, 2011
We whole-heartedly encourage ALL birders to make a difference by
Taking Action for Diversity in Birding!

We welcome you to submit a realistic goal and simple action plan for getting more
people in your area familiar with your resident birds and seasonal migrant visitors.

These goals and actions plans will be available  online in the near future to highlight the
American birding community's dedication to the future of birding and bird conservation.
After a day of insightful presentations and riveting dialogue, conference participants
were challenged to apply this new knowledge by developing simple and realistic goals
to start providing broader, more diverse audiences with birding opportunities.
Location (City, State):
Example Goals: - hold weekly bird walk at Cooper River Park, Camden N.J.
                          - start a birding book club in Baltimore Public Library
which                                                             includes books such as
The Big Year and monthly
birding outings
                          - mentor a youth birding club at my child's/grandchild's school
